Musicianship Achievement
We are excited to unveil our new MUSICIANSHIP ACHIEVEMENT LEVELS for 2024 and beyond. Students will be recognized based on the level of achievement they have reached according to the criteria below. Student progression through the levels will be self-paced, and musicianship achievement levels will be the basis for advancement in chair placement, leadership, awards, and even loading the bus! We want to encourage all students in the program to reach for and strive for their highest possible levels of musicianship achievement!
No levels may be skipped.
All components are required for advancement to the next level.
Level 1 Musician
Major Scale Requirement: Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, G, C, F Concert Scales/Junior All State Range
Chromatic: Junior All State Range
Terms: Score of 80 or better on the Senior Terms List test
Theory: Score of 100 on the SHS Bands Level 1 Theory Test
Level 2 Musician
Major Scale Requirement: Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, G, C, F, D, and A Concert Scales/Clinic All State Range
Minor Scale Requirement: G, C, F Harmonic Minor Scales
Chromatic: Clinic All State Range
Terms: Score of 85 or better on the Senior Terms List test
Theory: Score of 100 on the SHS Bands Level 2 Theory Test
Level 3 Musician
Major Scale Requirement: Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, G, C, F, D, and A Concert Scales/Clinic All State Range
Minor Scale Requirements G, C, F, Bb, E, A, and D Harmonic Minor Scales
Chromatic: Clinic All State Range
Terms Score of 90 or better on the Senior Terms List test
Level 4 Musician
Major Scale Requirement: Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, G, C, F, D, and A Concert Scales/Clinic All State Range
Chromatic: Senior All State Range
Level 5 "Master" Musician
Scale Requirement: All 12 Major and Minor Scales/Senior All State Ranges (minor in harmonic form)
Chromatic: Senior All State Range
